Nutrition Surveys
Provide a snapshot of what Australians, or population groups within Australia, are eating at a particular time. Can be used for many purposes including:
Monitor nutrient intake against Nutrient Reference Values and the Dietary Guidelines for Australians
Asses changes in dietary habits and n8triaal status over time and to allow comparison with future surveys
Provide a basis for nutrient promotion strategies
Nutrient Reference Values
Their purpose is to be used by health professionals to assess the likelihood of inadequate intake in individuals or groups of people
The government sector uses them for developing core food group analysis and the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating
Food Safety Legislation
All food safety and quality requirements are covered under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, developed and administered by FSANZ. Responsibilities include: Developing standards for food Providing information to consumer s Food surveillance and recall Conducting research Nutrient and health claims Food safety on imported food Labelling legislation
