Q

Binary fission process

A
  • Circular DNA replicates once and both copies attach to the cell membrane at opposite poles
  • Plasmid(s) replicate
  • Cell membrane grows and cytoplasm begins to divide
  • New cell walls begin to form
  • Two genetically identical daughter cells produced (each has one copy of the circular DNA, but can have a variable number of copies of the plasmid)
