- Shows hierarchical structure on a project.
- PM is head of the structure
What is the Organisational structure used for?
- Communicating the reporting structure to stakeholders.
- Used in conjunction with work breakdown structure to create a RAM
What is the benefit of a Responsibility Matrix. (3)
- People are fully aware of their role and no work is duplicated.
- People are clear on the roles of those working around them.
- There are resources available at the right time.
What is the process of defining scope.
- Gather requirements - focus groups surveys
- Analyse requirements - schedule, investment, functions,
costs,
objectives,
test the assumptions - Communicate the results -
1-2-1 consultations, working groups, debate ideas, baseline functional requirements, MoSCow
Why is it important to define scope early? (5)
- PM has the most influence during early stages
- change is easier to implement early on
- changes made later come at a higher cost
- less chance of delivering unsatisfactory outcome for stakeholders
- important for communicating to stakeholders and checking activities have been completed.
What is configuration management?
The technical and administrative activities concerned with the creation, maintenance, controlled change and quality control of the scope of work.

What is the change control process?
The process for change to be identified, evaluated and approved/deferred or rejected.
The project team will evaluate with an impact assessment as change often consumes resource.
Why do we have a change control process?
Changes may arise where issues develop or external stakeholders add new requirements.

If change is not managed effectively problems can escalate and impact on parts of the deliverables
