• Plan, organise, motivate and lead the project from start to end while delivering objectives

• The sponsor has involvement from the beginning of the project
• They will have varying levels of input at different times

• Developing and maintaining the business case
• Monitoring high level progress
Steering Groups
• Key body within the governance structure who take responsibility for issues associated with the project
• Approving budget strategy
• Making policy and resource decisions
• Assessing changes that have the potential to impact the business case
• The PM isn’t part of the group but may attend meetings
Members of the steering group
• Project sponsor (Chair)
• Key stakeholders
• Representatives from suppliers
• Representatives from the users

• Ensures the scope aligns with the requirements
• Addresses any issues raised by the PM
• Reconcile differences in opinions and resolve conflict
