What are the three groups of people you’ll want to consider for your audience?
Stakeholders, supporters, spectators. Your communication plan needs to address each group and their needs, then show how to communicate to these groups and what information to share.
What is an audience list?
This list should have three groups, stakeholders, supporters, and spectators. Then you should add roles to each group. Roles, not people. The audience list should be very specific on how to communicate with each group. You should specific one-to-one or group meetings, email lists, and reports. It should also show each group’s communication needs, how much information does each group need to know?
What are the two different styles of project communication plans?
Stakeholder communication plan and the event communication plan.
What is the stakeholder communication plan?
It focuses on the who. It will be your audience list, and then a plan for how to communicate.
What is the event communication plan?
It focuses mostly on the how. It will be a list of meetings, reports, and email blasts. Then, it describes how each of them help you communicate.
At a very basic level, what is communication?
The process of encoding meaning into messages, and decoding messages back into meaning.
What is one-way communication?
A type of asynchronous communication. You’re sending a message to someone, but they won’t read and respond instantly. You should only use one-way communication for low emotion messages.
What is the P3I technique?
You list our the power, impact, interest, and influence of stakeholders.
What is the power and interest grid?
It has four quadrants and shows who gets the highest priority when communicating.
When you speak to executives, what three things should you keep in mind?
First, understand the executives key motivators. Second, be concise. Third, understand the big picture.
