Moral (made people poor, caused violence)
WW1 (patriots didn’t want to support Germany - much beer was produced there)
Why did prohibition fail?
America has 18,700 of coast-line and boarders which made it impossible to police the law.
What did prohibition ban?
In jan 1920, it became illegal to sell, transport or produce alcohol in America

There were 32,000 speakeasies who bribed prohibition agents who were paid less than garbage collectors
Who were Izzy and Moe?
Izzy and Moe were successful prohibition agents. They made over 4,000 arrests and were used in propaganda.
Who was Al Capone and why was he so successful?
Al Capone was an Italien Gangster working in America. He was very popular in Chicago (he set up soup kitchens and tipped a lot of money to waiters etc.). He was estimated to have earned $100 million a year.
Why did prohibition end?
When the depression hit, the government needed the money from alcohol tax. Alcohol would’ve contributed 1/10 of the governments income.
