Specific consent

A

Specific consent means that the patient mist give consent for each stage of treatment; it must not be assumed that full consent has be gained for the full course of treatment. For example a tooth that was restored with an amalgam filling may need a crown within 6 months. Consent would be needed for the initial filling and then for the crown later on.
