14
Q

Sets out the business vision - description of the changed business as it is expected to be, both incrementally as solution is deployed and fully evolved upon completion
Justification based on investment position, calculated by cost of project vs. benefits it’s expected to deliver, taking into account the risk associated.

Acts as a driver for decision making throughout the project

Spells out why the project is worth doing. Baselined at end of feasibility and updated throughout project

Identifies any major risks the project is likely to face

Q

Is an evolutionary product

Describes the requirements that the project needs to address and the priority of each requirement with respect to meeting the business needs

Defines the high level scope of the project. Baselined version, delivered at end of feasibility, defines high-level scope. Any change to breadth needs to be handled formally. Adding, removing, or making significant revisions to high-level requirements.

Evolves throughout the project lifecycle as more detail emerges around the requirements

16
Q

Is an evolutionary product

Provides a high-level design framework for the solution

Covers the business and technical aspects of the solution to a level of detail that helps define the scope

Without constraining the evolutionary development
At feasibility, may just be a sketch. By end of Foundations, detailed enough so that both business and technical aspects understood by all participants.

A

Solution Architecture Definition

17
Q

Is an evolutionary product

Describes at a high level what tools, techniques, customs practices, and standards will be applied to the evolutionary development of the solution

Includes the project’s strategy for testing and review

Assures the relevant stakeholders that a solution which is fit for purpose will be delivered

A

Development Approach Definition

18
Q

Schedule of the project increments

Include the timeboxes which make up the increment

Increments will be laid out in as much detail as is required

Is an evolutionary product.

Additional detail will be added as the project unfolds. Unlikely to be task details included

A

Delivery Plan

19
Q

Sets out the high-level approach to project management

Include detail of how the project will be organised - planning approach, how stakeholders will be communicated with, how progress is to be assessed and reported on

Baselined at the end of Foundations - evolves further only when an identified area requires improvement or if circumstances change

A

Management Approach Definition

20
Q

Is a milestone product

Created at the end of Feasibility

Provides a picture of the evolving business, solution, and management products that have been produced.

Summary of rest of Foundations products.

May take the form of a Summary Report outlining the content OR may simply be a baseline collection.

Each product in its own right should have sufficient detail as to allow a sensible decision to be made, relating to feasibility of project.

Is a governance product, Supports decision-making.

A

Feasibility Assessment

21
Q

Is a milestone product.

Provides a picture of the evolving business, solution, and management products that have been produced or updated in the Foundations phase

Each of the products should have sufficient detail as to allow a decision to be made, whether project likely to make appropriate return on investment. May be Summary Report, or may be baseline collection of each of them.

Is a governance product

A

Foundations Summary

22
Q

Is an evolutionary product

Comprised of all the appropriate components of the solution together with any intermediate deliverables
Intermediate deliverables may be those necessary to explore the details of requirements and the solution under construction

May include things like models, prototypes, supporting materials, or even testing & assurance artifacts

Created incrementally and each increment is comprised of a number of timeboxes.

A

Evolving Solution

23
Q

Focuses on the high-level detail for each timebox set out in the delivery plan

Establishes the work to be executed

Defines the deliverables to be created within the relevant timebox

Details which resources are assigned to execute the defined tasks

Created by the Solution Delivery Team

Can take format of team board potentially, showing work to be done, in progress, and completed

Typically updated on daily basis

A

Timebox Plan

24
Q

Is an evolutionary product

Captures feedback from each review that takes place within the timebox

Provides information on what has been achieved so far, and any relevant lessons

Provides auditable evidence of the review (in heavily regulated environments). Comments from business advisors or relevant experts.

Is a governance product

A

Timebox Review Record

25
Q

Is a milestone product

Created at the end of each increment when a solution increment is deployed

Provides information on what has been delivered and what has not

Captures any lessons learned from the increment retrospective and describes any benefits, which should begin to accrue

At end of final increment at project closure, final retrospective is carried out to reflect on the project as a whole

Is a governance product - auditable reference to performance aspects

A

Product Review Report

26
Q

Describes the benefits which have been accrued since the solution was deployed into an operational environment

May break the benefits down to an increment basis

Collate the benefits into an overall assessment of the project. May be useful to have a number created on periodic base for large projects

A

Benefit Assessment
