What is the carbon footprint of a product?
The amount of greenhouse gases emitted due to the manufacture, transportation, use and inevitable disposal of a product.
What is a biodegradable material?
Material that breaks down over time once disposed of.
What are two factors that affect a product’s sustainability?
Its materials finite or non finite or biodegradable or recyclable
What is ‘designed for disassembly’?
A product that can be easily taken apart for recycling each material separately
What is ‘planned obsolescence’
Product that is intentionally made to be used up quickly
What is a Life cycle assessment?
A way of monitoring the potential environmental impact
What is continuous improvement?
When manufacturers constantly improve their models and products.
What is an environmental issue of continuous improvement?
Encurages consumer to buy newer models, causing a spike in the disposal of older models.
