What is procrastination a response to?
Procrastination is our brain’s response in order to protect us from what seems threatening.
If I procrastinate more what happens?
The longer you procrastinate the harder the activity becomes
Is being lazy the same as procrastinating?
Laziness and procrastination are not the same, because laziness requires low energy and apathy, and people who procrastinate care too much.
What are procrastinators so afraid of?
Procrastinators fear their work won’t live up to their high standards.
What symptoms does procrastination lead to?
Procrastinators tend to suffer from anxiety, depression, shame, and physical ailments that come from high stress.
Does procrastination relieve anything?
Procrastination temporarily reduces stress; the body’s way of coping
Should we be rigid and set a time management schedule?
Being too hard on yourself in order to stop procrastinating, can make the threat at hand, worse.
What helps?
Chunking the task or journaling about why it’s stressing you out are strategies to help
What really helps in the end?
It’s important to cultivate a cycle of self-forgiveness and compassion instead of stress.
