What was Descartes an advocate of?
Descartes was an advocate of dualism, he observed hydraulics and argued that we are not simply reflexive like machines are, because we are capable of spontaneous and creative actions.
What didn’t Descartes doubt?
Descartes went on in a cycle about doubting his reality, until he came to the conclusion that he cannot doubt if he’s thinking. So, he noted that there’s something different about having a mind compared to a body that you can doubt.
What are the three kinds of neurons?
There are sensory neurons, motor neurons, and interneurons which connect the two.
What do Agonists do?
Agonists in pharmaceuticals increases the effect of neurotransmitters, by making more neurotransmitters or by stopping the cleanup of neurotransmitters, or in some cases mimicking a neurotransmitter
What do Antagonists do?
Antagonists in pharmaceuticals, slow down the number of neurotransmitters, because they destroy or make it hard to create more. Sometimes they block the neuron (dendrites) from connecting.
