Q

Strengths of PT

A

-support from quantum mechanics
-supported by possible translation of hebrew in genesis 1
-claims probability rather than uncertainty
-God bringing order to chaos is more logically plausible than God creating everything out of nothing
- it solves the problem of evil(God is not omnipotent so he may want to control evil but cannot do so)

Q

Weaknesses of PT

A

-biggest strength is also its biggest weakness
-for vast majority of Christians the God that is described in process theology is not worth of worship
-If God did not create us why would you thank him for giving us life? If God cannot stop bad things happening what is the point of praying to him?

Q

Process theology

A

-universe has always existed it is eternal and uncreated same with God.
-relationship between God and universe is panentheistic.
-Griffin sees God as persuading the universe into a state of order rather than chaos. God has a certain amount of influence.
-process theology- influenced by quantum mechanics, the universe is in a constant process of change led Griffin to believe that creation being a one off was wrong
