Bronchoscope
A bronchoscope is used to treat areas of the respiratory tract, including the trachea, main stem bronchi, and some of the small bronchi.
(Indications: coughing up blood, chronic cough, and lung cancer)
Colonoscopy
Used where the physician examined the lining of the colon for abnormalities. Inserted thru the anus and then slowly advanced thru the rectum and colon.
Esophageal (EGD)
This procedure is known as a GI endoscopy or Upper endoscopy and is the examination of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum
Gastroscope
A procedure in which the physician examines the esophagus and stomach
Enteroscopy
Is an examination of portions of the small intestines….one type has a two single use balloons at its tip.
Endoscopic Ultrasound
This procedure allows the physician to examine layers of the digestive tract that are deeper than the surface of the mucosal lining. EUS is used to study other organs near this tract like the lungs, liver, gall bladder , and pancreas
Capsule or Virtual Endoscopy
A wireless camera mounted in a swallowed capsule is programmed to take multiple pictures as it traverses this digestive tract
Endoscopic retrograde (ERCP)
ERCP is a specialized technique used to study the liver, bile and/ or pancreas ducts, and gall bladder.
Sigmoidoscopy
Is an examination of the inside of the rectum and the sigmoid colon.
