A benign (not cancer) condition in which an overgrowth of prostate tissue pushes against the urethra and the bladder, blocking the flow of urine
biopsy
The removal of cells or tissues for examination by a pathologist.
bronchoscopy
an endoscopic technique of visualizing the inside of the airways for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. An instrument (bronchoscope) is inserted into the airways, usually through the nose or mouth, or occasionally through a tracheostomy.
blunt dissection
careful separation of tissues along tissue planes by either fingers or convenient blunt instruments during many diverse surgical procedures

neurogenic bladder
the name given to a number of urinary conditions in people who lack bladder control due to a brain, spinal cord or nerve problem.

osteomalacia
the softening of the bones caused by impaired bone metabolism primarily due to inadequate levels of available phosphate, calcium, and vitamin D, or because of resorption of calcium.

operation to remove the head of the pancreas, the first part of the small intestine (duodenum), the gallbladder and the bile duct.
pilonidal cyst or sinus
can be one or several openings in the skin between the buttocks. Often there is a cyst at the base of the sinus, the passage that leads to an abscess, which is a collection of pus.

a diagnostic method with which the arthrographer can confidently diagnose common joint abnormalities.

the surgery to remove the ovaries and fallopian tubes.
salpingoplasty
plastic surgery of a fallopian tube.
thoracoplasty
the surgical operation of removing or resecting one or more ribs so as to obliterate the pleural cavity and collapse a diseased lung.
total hysterectomy
the uterus and cervix are removed.
tracheotomy
an incision in the windpipe made to relieve an obstruction to breathing.
tracheostomy
an incision in the windpipe made to relieve an obstruction to breathing.

the formation of stony concretions in the bladder or urinary tract.
