EO drift down procedure
- FMS / Manual
- Notify ATC & initiate turn
- non-normal checklist
- determine course of action
Rapid descent
Identify Cabin altitude
Don oxygen masks
Establish crew communication
PM: Check cabin alt & Rate
Announce: “(Un)controllable”
PF: "Rapid descent" Initiate turn if required (+45) Select lower alt on MCP Select FLCH Close thrust levers and extent Speedbrakes
If structural integrity not in doubt: Select VMO / MMO
PM:
- Notify ATC
- Switch on all lights
- Set 7700 and down xponder
(4. Set ADS and 15 mile track) - Do the Cabin alt checklist
VERIFY MEMORY ITEMS
PM: Call 2000 & 1000
PF: select lower speed (VMO or LRC / 300)
PM: Continue checklist
Contact purser
Perform remaining checklists
TCAS ATC CALLS
“TCAS RA”
“Unable, TCAS RA”
“Clear of conflict, returning to FL…”
GPWS Warning
PF: -Disengage Autopilot -Disconnect autothrottles -aggressively appl max thrust roll wings level & initital pitch to 20° -retract speedbrakes -if terrain remains a threat, continue to stick shaker
PM: Assure max thrust, verify all actions have been completed.
PF:
- Do not change gear or flap configuration until terrain seperation is assured
- monitor radio altimeter for sustained or increasing terrain seperation
- when clear of terrain, slowly decrease pitch attitude and accelerate
PM:
- monitor VS and altitude
- call out any trend toward terrain contact
RTO reasons +80 kts
- Fire or fire warning
- engine failure
- predictive windshear warning
- if the airplane is unsafe or unable to fly
Durign the takeoff, the crew member observing the non-normal situation will immediately call it out as clearly as possible.
RTO procedure
Captain: “Reject”
- Close thrust levers & disengage autothrottle
- raise reverse thrust levers
- apply brakes or monitor autobrakes
- verify speedbrakes
FO: verify actions, announce speedbrakes up / reversers normal & 60kts
FO: when parking brakes are set, “CC & Pax, remain seated”
Contact ATC
TCAS RA:
NO DESCENT RA (fly down) below 1000 AGL
PF:
- disengage autopilot
- disconnect A/T
- smoothly apply pitch and thrust commands
in landing config:
- disengage autopilot
- disconnect A/T
- advance thrust to full fwd
- Flaps 20
- follow RA commands
positive rate: gear up
Windshear escape maneuvre MANUAL FLIGHT
- Disengage autopilot
- push TO/GA
- agressively apply max thrust
- disconnect autothrottles
- wings level, nose 15°
- retract speedbrakes
- follow flight director TO/GA guidance
Do not change gear of flap configuration
monitor VS and altitude
do not attempt to regain lost airspeed until windshear is no longer a factor
Circling approach
- Gear down, Flaps 20
- level off at MDA
- time 45 sec turn
- on downwind, set missed appraoch altitude
- time 35 seconds before base turn
- final flaps setting before descent
- landing checklist
- base turn AP off
1600, Descent at start timing
1100, end of timing
800, halfway downwind to final
500, wings level final course
Visual
- 2 NM abeam
- time 45 seconds
- before turning base, F20 Gdown, arm speedbrake
- base: landing flaps
- landing checklist
Dual engine failure
PF: set speed 275 FLCH
PM: memory items, call ATC, set transponder down 7700, lights on, do checklist.
Engine start monitor items
monitor oil temperature & pressure.
abort if there is no oil pressure indication after EGT increases.
Go-Around
- TO/GA
- “go-around, Flaps 20”
- Rotate to go-around attitude
- check thrust
- positive rate, gear up
- at missed approach altitude, flap retraction
- FLCH
- checklist
