Engine Runup
Overspeed governors and Rudder boost

A

One power lever at a time, increase until RPM stable at 1800-1910. Then continue until corresponding rudder kicks due to rudder boost.
Observe torque and ITT limits (summer-ITT; winter-torque)

Primary governors

A

Using POWER levers, Set 1800 RPM. Then pull PROP lever to friction detent. Check 1600-1640RPM. Reset props to full forward

Auto feather/autoignition

A

Autoignition switches-ARM
Power levers-500 ftlbs
Autofeather switch hold to test, observe both auto-fx lgts;no auto ign lgts?
One power lever at a time, reduce
-410+/-50ftlbs opposite fx lgt off;same side ign lgt on
-260+/-50ftlbs both fx lgts ext and prop starts to fx
Repeat for the other engine
Then both power levers 500ftlbs and then idle, no autofx, only 2 auto ign lgts.

Engine start brief

A

This will be a battery start of the right engine followed by a generator assisted start of the left engine. I’ll time the start and you time from low idle to light off. All malfunctions will be handled per NATOPS. Left side is clear

Takeoff Brief

A

Back me up in the power quadrant and monitor the engine and flight instruments. Call out any malfunctions, all malfunctions will be handled per NATOPS. We will not abort for a battery charge light. Call 60 knots for an airspeed and engine check. Call rotate at Vr

Touch and go brief

A

Once safely on the runway, I’ll call reset flaps and trim. Once you have reset the flaps and trim, call stand them up. I will advance the power levers to the 12 o’clock position. Call set take off power once the engines are spooled up and rotate at Vr with takeoff power set

A

Crossing the runway threshold I will bring both power levers to idle. Once safely on the runway, I’ll call reset flaps and trim. Once you have reset the flaps and trim call stand them up and I will advance the power levers to the 12 o’clock position. Call set takeoff power once the engines are spooled up and Rotate at Vr with takeoff power set

SSE Full Stop Briefing

A

Once safely on the runway, I will bring both power levers over the ramp to ground idle, then reverse with the left/right engine maintaining centerline with opposite rudder, aileron and forward control wheel pressure. If rudder effectiveness is lost, I will bring both power levers toward ground idle

Ditching parameters

A

Two engines - 100KIAS, flaps down
Single Engine - 105KIAS, flaps app
No Engine- 140KIAS at first for max range, then 105KIAS with flaps approach, or 120KIAS for flaps up
