Procedures Flashcards
Discrete Trial Training (DTT)
Structured teaching, reinforces not natural to target behavior
Natural Environment Training (NET)
Naturalistic teaching, reinforces natural consequence to target behavior
Error Correction
Prompts used, distractor trials & transfer trials
Errorless learning
Most to least prompting
Shaping
Reinforcing successive approximations until terminal behavior is reached (i.e. teaching client to say “wa-“ for water & providing reinforcement)
Chaining
Breaking down larger tasks into small steps; may be taught using forward-chaining, backward-chaining, or total task
Self-management
Client keeping track of behaviors being targeted for change (i.e. client completing a self-evaluation at end of session recording how they did during session)
Functional Communication Training
Teaching client how to communicate needs independently (i.e. saying “come play with me” to get attention from others)
