Procedures Flashcards
Describe Driftdown Procedure
Select “ENG OUT” out - FMS VNAV page
Set recommended altitude in window
Select execute on FMS
Depress altitude select to initiate descent
Execute will provide proper speed for weight and VNAV PATH will begin the descent to selected new drift down altitude.
Describe Windshear Escape with Autopilot ON
With auto pilot on:
Select go around.
Ensure thrust levers provide maximum thrust and assist max thrust.
Ensure windshear guidance is provided and auto pilot is following.
When clear of windshear select VNAV.
Execute go-round procedure with all callouts.
Describe windshear escape with auto pilot OFF.
Select go around to command climb.
Disconnect auto throttles.
Select go around again to ensure thrust ref.
Pitch to PLI. Occasional shaker is OK.
When clear of wind shear select VNAV
Execute go around procedure with callouts.
What is considered a low visibility takeoff requiring the use of HUD guidance?
RVR < 500’/150 meters or reported visibility
EFVS approach limitations.
-Maximum Crosswind - 15kts
-Maximum offset is 10° from final approach course
-VNAV or glideslope are the only authorized vertical navigation modes
-The approach must be selectable from the FMC database providing vertical and lateral guidance
What is a primary difference between reduced thrust takeoff and rated thrust takeoff?
Reduced thrust takeoff (assumed temperature method) is not a takeoff operating limitation, since VMC is based on full rated thrust.
Derated thrust (TO1/TO2) is an operating limitation. Additional thrust added, may result in loss of aircraft control. When sheer or additional acceleration after V1 are conditions which may require additional thrust. I.E. de rated thrust lowers VMC. Using de rated thrust may provide the performance required on contaminated runways.
Describe fuel dumping considerations?
-request area from ATC
-if no area from ATC avoid population
-Ensure you are above 4000 feet
-Ensure you are not in a holding pattern with aircraft below you
What is required for cat III fail operational?
-Land 3
-autopilot engaged
-2 autoland indications
-no SGL source displays, no SGL source, rad alt, no single source ILS
What is required for cat III fail passive?
-land2/land3
-Autopilot engaged
-2 autoland status annunciators
-no SGL source displays, SGL source rad alt, no single source ILS
-Must see to land by 50’
V1 Cut Profile
-Do not increase thrust unless necessary.
-400’ VNAV
-(Consider HDG/LNAV for EO SID)…aircraft will go RWY track with ENG Fail on TO
-500’ AP
-1000’ or REQ - clean up
-Verify continuous thrust
-Select engine out
-non-normal checklist
-After takeoff checklist
