Problem Of Evil Flashcards
Whats the evidential problem of evil?
The evidence count as prove of God is evil.
All the natural disasters (tornados, tsunamis, earthquakes, etc).
And the moral evil human evil actions (murders, genocides)
Whats the logical problem with evil?
It claims that the concept of God is incoherent,
God is loving, but evil exist.
God is all powerfull, but he cant delete pain.
God is omniscient, but we have free will.
Explain moral evil.
All the human actions concious or uncouncious. As murders, old genocides, etc.
Explain natural evil.
All the evil caused by natural disasters such as volcanos, tsunamis, earthquakes, etc.
Explain the soulmaking response.
God is all powerfull + all loving + all knowing and suffering exist because God wants humans to fulfill their pontetial. We have evil as consequence of free will. A world in which there is evil enables humans to grow and develop, and provides an enviroment in which our soul a can be forged and strengthened. This is the best of all possible worlds.
Explain free will response.
God is omniscient + omnipotent + benevolent and suffering and pain is consecuence of a greater good namely free will. Evil was introduces when some of ir creatures chose to turn away from God. Because of the failure of Adam and Eve to resist temptation. Agustines theodicy blames humans for moral and natural on the freely chosen acts.
God created a world with free creatures capable of doing what is morally right and evil , humans are the sources of evil.
Mencion 2 criticism for the free will response.
- It only seems to account for moral evil, doesnt explain natural evil.
Why should animales suffering for the decisión of Eve. - We need to be carefull about how we define free will, you are not free unless there is nothing influencing you.
Mencion 2 criticisms for the soul making response.
- If this is the best of all possible worlds what can the others be like.
- The distribution of misery in the world seems to be random and meaningless, so that it may be heaped upon those who seem least deserving.
