Describe the advice you could provide to Anna to prevent a fall
Wear well fitted shoes, ensure lightbulbs are well lit, wear clothing that is not loose fitting and doesn’t leave a trail, use non slip mats, arrange home in way that reduces need to reach or climb, mop up spillages immediately, strength and balance exercises can prevent falls. Avoid alcohol or reduce intake.

• get an easy-to-fit wireless doorbell that comes with
an entry phone you can keep near your chair
• choose a video entry phone so you can see who is at the
door – some video entry phones allow you to press a button
to open the door from where you’re sitting.
Stairs: • a swivel seat to help you get safely on and off
• specially adapted controls, for example to help your grip
• safety features to make sure the stairlift stops if something
blocks its movement.
Discuss if there are any risks concerning Anna with respect to falls
Alcohol, blood pressure medications, digoxin toxicity (blurred vision)

Facilitate and enhance the binding of GABA to GABAa receptors. Can cause daytime sleepiness, CNS side effects including confusion. Drowsiness, coma or respiratory depression are signs of overdose.
