Probability and Significance Flashcards
1
Q
What is the Null Hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis?
A
- The Null hypothesis states there is ‘no difference’ between the conditions
- The alternative hypothesis states that there will be a difference (can be directional and non-directional)
2
Q
What is a Type 1 error?
A
- the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted (false positive)
3
Q
What is a Type 2 error?
A
- the null hypothesis is accepted and the alternative hypothesis is rejected (false negative)
4
Q

A
- Those statistical tests with the letter R in the name are those where the calculated value must be equal to or more than the critical value.
