Before Landing Checklist
- Mixture full rich
- Carb heat check
- Lights on as required
- Fuel shutoff on
- Seats belts on
- Gear down
Power-On Stalls
- Before maneuver checklist
- Slow to 50 knots
- Pitch up and apply full power
- Coordinate with rudder, ailerons neutral
- Wings level, announce symptoms of a stall
- Wings level, recognize and announce full stall
- Nose to the horizon
- Wings level
- Resume normal flight
Short-Field Takeoff and Maximum Performance Climb Procedure
- Flaps 10°
- Use all of runway
- Apply brakes
- Full throttle
- Check engine gauges
- Flight control neutral
- Release brakes
- Rotate at 50 knots
- Climb at VX (54 knots)
- After clearing obstacle, climb at VY (67 knots)
- Positive climb, positive airspeed – Flaps 0°
Steep Turns
• Turn 360° in a steep ( > 45° ) bank.
1. Before maneuver checklist
2. Roll into a 45° - 50° turn.
• More right rudder in right turns will be needed.
3. Maintain bank with aileron
4. Maintain coordination with rudder
5. Maintain altitude with elevator
6. Add power to maintain airspeed
7. Eyes outside, inside check attitude indicator
8. Roll out on heading and repeat in opposite direction
Normal Takeoff and Climb Procedure
- Flaps 0°
- Carb heat off
- Full throttle
- Rotate at 50 knots
- Climb out at VY (67 knots)
After Landing Checklist
- Flaps 0°
- Carb heat off
- Lean mixture for taxi
- Transponder STBY or OFF
Slow Flight
- Before maneuver checklist
- Carb heat on
- Reduce power, coordinate with rudder
- Flaps 30°
- Trim
- Gentle turns, climbs and descents
- Increase power
- Carb heat off
- Raise flaps incrementally
Forward Slip to a Landing Procedure
- Airspeed 70 knots
- Flaps 30°
- Reduce throttle to idle
- Apply bank in direction of slip, slip into the wind
- Maintain flight path with opposite rudder
- Remove slip
- Normal touchdown
Normal Approach and Landing Procedure
- Airspeed 70 knots
- Flaps 30°
- Airspeed over the numbers 60 knots
- Reduce throttle to idle
- Main wheels first
- Minimum brakes or as required
Short-Field Approach and Landing Procedure
- Airspeed 60-70 knots
- Flaps 30°
- Airspeed over the spot 54 knots
- Throttle to idle
- Touchdown on mains
- Apply heavy brakes
- Flaps 0°
- Elevator full back
After Takeoff Checklist
- Flaps 0°
2. Lights as required
Rejected Landing or Go-Around Procedure
- Full throttle
- Carb heat off
- Flaps 20°
- Airspeed 55 knots
- Retract flaps incrementally
- Climb out at VY (67 knots)
Before Maneuver Checklist
- At least 1,500’ AGL, 800’ AGL for Ground Reference
- Emergency landing available
- Clearing turns
- Radio call
- Reference point
Power-Off Stalls
- Before maneuver checklist
- Flaps 30°
- Carb heat on
- Power to idle
- Nose up, coordinate with rudder
- Wings level, announce symptoms of a stall
- Wings level, recognize and announce full stall
- Nose to the horizon and add full power
- Wings level
- Carb heat off
- At VY (67 knots), retract flaps and resume normal flight
Soft-Field Approach and Landing Procedure
- Airspeed 70 knots
- Flaps 30°
- Airspeed over the numbers 60 knots
- Use a little power
- Touchdown soft
- Keep nose wheel up
- Elevator full back
- Minimum brakes or as required
