Principles User Experience & Domain Context Flashcards
What are the Principles of User Experience?
- User-Centric Design 👤
- Usability 🏷️
- Data Accessibility 🦯
- Visual Clarity 🌌
- Adaptability 📊
- Feedback 💬
What is Domain Context?
Understanding the specific field or area of knowledge that the data relates to e.g. industry, or team
Why is UX important in Analysis?
- Stakeholders Insights🤝
- Well designed dashboards📊📊
- Clear and accessible🪟🔑
- Empower stakeholders💪
- Informed decisions🧠✅
Why is Domain Context important in Analysis?
- Define the problem 🚩
- Identify data 🔍🔢
- Ask the right questions ❓
- Key metrics 📏
- Choose right tools/visualisations/analysis 🔨
- Correct terminology 🔤
- Interpret findings 👩🏫
Provide 3 examples of UX and give details of how you applied them in a project
- Data Accessibility: 👁️ Colour Blind Colleague & Help Overlay
- Visual Clarity: 🪟 JLP Tableau Template for consistency/familiar format & layout and empty containers as white space = complex info could be communicated effectively, unlike Alfabet
- User-centric design: 🎯 Interviewed DGM/Stewards; past challenges; Prototype for feedback
How do you define what your domain is and how did you use this knowledge to contextualise the data?
- RoP Project
- My stakeholders :Data Governance Team👥📊👮
- ICO Guidance
- I researched what needed to be documented under Article 30 of the UK GDPR 3️⃣0️⃣
- to help understand what users need to see on the dashboard to comply📊📊✔️📜
What data visualisations did you create? (x4 examples and why)
Collibra BT dashboard
* 📊 Bar chart - compares and displays categorical data, highlights differences between domains easily, familiar to stakeholders
* 🥧📈 It was cluttered so added Pie chart too show proportion of BT’s in various status’ quickly and clearly to stakeholders.
RoP Dashboard
* 🔑Key metrics - top left - colour for positive/negative outcomes
* 🫧📊Bubble chart - no. apps per domain, too many data points - couldn’t read it, not familiar - 📊bar chart instead
* 🪑Table - Feedback, context for the visualisations and supports decision making
Detailed Visualisation Example
Bar chart in RoP dashboard howing number of apps in each sensitivity tier.
Caution symbols indicate those tiers that are most sensitive and handle personal data
Bar chart is most effective for comparing values because length of bar corresponds to actual value, where as pie charts require interpretation of slice sizes
Chart showed many unrecorded apps in tier 4, which is good. But there are uncategorised apps that need investigation. Numerous apps from tiers 1 - 3 need to be reviewed with a recommendation to prioritise tier 1.
Initially used JLP’s brand palette, but stakeholder feedback meant I adjusted the colours for better distinction
What did the RoP dashboard show?
- Most apps not recorded are low risk
- Some were missed in 2023 review
- 26 upcoming apps not documented - issue in process?
What was the Business Value of RoP App?
- 20 million Euro fine/4% annual turnover for not documenting personal data processing
- Proactive efforts to address a breach are considered
- RoP/Dashboard serve as evidence of efforts
Objectives of the RoP Dashboard
- RoP process works
- New Apps added to RoP
- Any missed in 2023
- Prioritise Apps to review first
