What does progressive overload mean?
When a athlete gradually over trains his body and becomes more tired in the next session the athlete should keep a minimum of how much he should do and should not under or overtrain
What does specificity mean?
When you set your self a requirement of what you need to do
And how much you must do to keep a good level of fitness
Progressive overload
Starts slowly and gradually increases the amount of exercise.
FITT
Used to increase the amount of work the body does in order to achieve overload
Recovery
The time required to repair to the body caused by training or competition.
Specificity
Training that must be matched to the needs of the sporting activity to improve fitness in the body parts the sport uses.
Reverseibility
Losing fitness levels when you stop exercising.
Overtraining
Occurs when you train beyond your body’s
ability to recover.
Rest
The period of time allocated to recover.
Individual Needs
Personal fitness needs based on age, gender,
fitness level and the sport for which we are training.
