-the instinct to follow group behavior
-especially in situations that are unclear, ambiguous, unsure
Define the principle of Scarcity
The instinct to pursue scarce resources
-the tendency to regard something that is difficult to get as more valuable
What is the principle of Authority
-the obligation to defer to authority
-the appearance of authority is enough to assume that someone has authority
What is the principle of Consistency?
the drive to maintain a consistent private and public image
-people are driven to maintain a stance taken in public to appear consistent
-the commitment to follow through once a stance has been taken
Define the principle of Liking
-the need to belong or for belonging
-the tendency to comply more often with requests made by people they know or trust or like
-likability increases with physical attractiveness, perceived similarities in attitude or values
-give compliments
-or appear to cooperate
Define the principle of reciprocation
-feeling obligation to repay in kind, simply because they feel they owe someone something
