Principles of Fitness Flashcards
What does specificity mean?
Making training specific to the sport or activity being played or performed, to the movements, muscles and energy systems which are used in that sport or activity
What does progressive overload mean?
Gradually increasing the stress placed on the body during training without the potential for injury. Making the body work harder than normal so that adaptions take place
What does reversibility mean?
Fitness levels are lost when you stop exercising. Sustaining an injury that stops you from training is the most common way for reversibility to occur
What is tedium?
The boredom that can occur from training the same way every time. Variety is needed in a training program to keep motivation levels high
What does frequency mean?
How often we train
What does intensity mean?
How hard we train
What does time mean?
How long we train for
What does type mean?
What type of training we use
