What is the mission of Marine artillery?
Destroy, neutralize, and suppress the enemy by cannon, rockets, and missile fire and to integrate all fire support assets into combined arms operations.
What three tasks accomplish artillery’s mission?
- Provide close and continuous fire support to the maneuver units
- Give depth to the battlefield (with long ranges, they are bale to attack reserves and assembly areas, interdict supply lines, and disrupt the enemy’s command and control facilities)
- Deliver counter fire withing the range of our weapon systems to ensure freedom of movement for ground forces
What is a Blast Attenuation Device (BAD)?
It reduces the blast effects on the mortar crew for 81mm mortars
