What is ‘Tahwid’?
Belief in one God- monotheism, the heart of all Islamic teachings, it is fundamental, oneness between Allah and humanity, immanence and transcendence, connected to all other principle beliefs- any belief against this is shirk
What is ‘Rusul’?
Allah has sent the prophets. to different societies, should be respected, role models to Muslims, divinely inspired authors, Muhammad is the seal of the ‘Rusul’- directly sent from Allah
What is the ‘Books of Allah’?
Allah’s intentions are revealed through scripture, revealed to Rusul, the Qu’ran is complete, unaltered and reliable. Unlike the Qu’ran, many scriptures haven’t been properly preserved and lost their meaning (distorted)
What is ‘Angels’?
Allah passes messaged to his prophets via the angels, they are pure with no capacity to sin, they are acknowledged during daily salaat, accompany Muslims throughout their lives, guarding, protecting and recording their good and evil deeds
What is ‘Fate and Predestination?
Also known as divine knowledge and determionation- Grand plan and sequence of events observed that are beyond human control, evil is a consequence of humans misuse of will and people are responsible for their chocies- ‘Insha allah’
What is ‘Akhira’?
Heaven and afterlife- Jannah
- Life is a test and after death adherents are judged by God, with Allah considering faith, good deeds and bad deeds
- Salvation is received out of Allah’s grace (rahmah)
How are they interconnected?
Everything is connected to tahwid, tawhid is conveyed in the books of Allah, then promoted by the rusul, Akhira is accomplished by following Allah, the books and the prophets
