What does a program contain and what is its main objective?
A program contains multiple projects and seeks to realise a vision. For instance, it can be titled “Compete through IT” with the objective of gaining a competitive advantage through modern IT.
What is a portfolio in an organization’s context?
A portfolio represents an organisation’s total investment to achieve its strategic goals, encompassing overall programs, standalone projects, and other activities that might not directly link together.
What are the representations in a project organisation?
Business, supplier, and user.
How does a corporate organisation differ from a project organisation?
Corporate is for day-to-day activity, whereas a project organisation is temporary.
What is Program Management’s role in PRINCE2?
It’s usually the top level of PRINCE2 management (e.g., C-Suite members / Exec Co.), that commissions the project, identifies the project executive, and sets project-level tolerances.
Describe the Project Board’s responsibility and structure.
1) The Project Board is responsible for the project.
2) Led by the executive, it isn’t a democracy.
3) Contains all key stakeholders.
4) The project executive is a Senior Manager, accountable for the project, leads the board, and is responsible for the business case document.
Who are the Senior Supplier and Senior User in the Project Board?
Senior Supplier represents the interests of those creating the products and ensures product quality.
Senior User represents the end-users, monitoring products against requirements. This role can be held by more than one person.
What is the role of the Project Manager?
Manages day-to-day processes, receives tolerances from the project board, and oversees team managers and work packages. There can only be one project manager.
Describe the roles of Team Manager, Project Assurance, and Project Support.
1) The Team Manager (optional PRINCE2 role) is responsible for delivering products and receives constraints from the project manager.
2) Project Assurance monitors the performance of the project board and can seek reports from the project manager for a second opinion.
3) Project Support provides support to the project; the role is optional but the work is mandatory.
