Cervical Spine immobilization
-Meets nexus criteria
-Obvious injury above clavicles
-Unconscious patient where trauma cannot be ruled out
Obstructed airway procedures
-absence of respirations
-unable to ventilate
Airway maintenance and suctioning
-Decreased LOC
-Presence of fluids or obstruction in the upper airway.
Assisting inadequate or failing respirations
-Abnormally fast or slow respirations
-Distressed respirations
-Shallow or laboured respirations, especially with DLOC, cyanosis, and decreased 02 sats.
Sealing open chest wounds
Open chest wounds
Preform CPR
Absence of carotid
Controlling hemorrhage
Major hemorrhage
Binding pelvis
Suspected fracture due to mechanism or instability. Including shock like symptoms with MOI
Stabilizing fractures
Suspected fractures
Realigning limb fractures
Grossly angulated fractures with no distal pulses
Initiation of rapid cooling of burns
Major burns
Oxygen
-Altered level of consciousness
-Respiratory distress
-Pain
-Trauma
-Evidence of shock
Gradual warming
Hypothermia
Rapid cooling
Hyperthermia
Patient is V, P, or U in regards to avpu
Patient should most likely be placed in semi recumbent position and airway should be monitored closely
