ASA indications
Chest pain indicative of cardiac ischemia
ASA Contraindications
-known hypersensitivity or allergy
-Asthma or patients with known asthma induced by NSAIDS or salicylic acids
Active gi bleeds or peptic ulcers
-pediatrics with viral symptoms (Reyes disease)
D10w indications and dosage
-Hypoglycemia/ALOC/ Seizures/Coma
Dose: 25mg in 250ml bags (GIVE IN 100ml boluses
Dimenhydrinate (Gravol) indications
Prevention or control of nausea, vomiting, and vertigo.
Dimenhydrinate (Gravol) contraindications
Known hypersensitivity or allergy
Dimenhydrinate (Gravol) dosage
1mg/kg to a maximum of 50mg
Given both IM and IV
For IV get 10ml syringe and dilute in 9ml of NS and push over 1-2 minutes
Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) indications
Treatment for allergic reaction
Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) contraindications
-Known hypersensitivity or allergy
-neonates
Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) dosage and route
25-50Mg - IV, IM
Entonox (Nitrous oxide) indications
-Relief of moderate to severe pain
-Relief of cardiac chest pain where nitro glycerin is contraindicated.
-isolated injury to extremities
Entonox (Nitrous oxide) contraindications
-Pneumothorax
-Air embolism
-Inhalation injury
-Nitro in the last 5 minutes
-Decompression sickness
-inability to comply
-enclosed spaces
Entonox (Nitrous oxide) cautions
Shock
Abdominal distension
Facial injuries
Deppressent drugs
COPD
Epinephrine indications
Anaphylaxis, severe bronchospasm
Epinephrine contraindications
Significant tachyarrythmias
Epinephrine route and dosage
0.5mg every 5 minutes up to three times
0.5mg every 5-20 minutes for severe bronchospasm
IM
Caution: can further hypotension
