Primary Survey Flashcards
Talk through the primary survey with regards TCCC?
Check for danger / return fire,
Grab casualty pull into cover / apply tourniquet if needed,
Move casualty to a safe treatable area and start primary survey
What is the primary survey?
DANGER RESPONSE CATASTROPHIC HAEMORRHAGING AIRWAY BREATHING CIRCULATION DISABILITY EXPOSURE
Talk through primary survey?
After TCCC and the casualty is away from danger,
Check response AVPU, check and clear airway put in NPA if unconscious, look for obvious wounds, engorged neck veins or tracheal deviation then feel for deformity equal and adequate chest movement then listen for equal adequate breath sounds rake chest check for flail chest or any bulges, check radial and cartoid pulse. Check disability re check AVPU and PEARL, then exposure wrap casualty and prepare for secondary survey/ evacuation
What does PEARL stand for?
Pupils are equal and reactive to light
Name the procedures for care under fire (TCCC) ?
Return fire and take cover, direct casualty to move to cover and apply self aid if possible, STOP life threatening external haemorrhaging (use CATC).
