- primary record blocks made on primary casts
- record occlusion using primary record block
- ask technician to mount primary casts using your registration
what are primary record blocks?
wax rims in saddle areas
lower may have lingual wire
upper has baseplate
-wax/shellac/PPMA
why is a primary record block used?
you cant see how teeth meet
used to mount casts accurately
look for space to place rest seats and baseplate
plan for prep of rest seats if no space available
what does OVD mean?
occlusal vertical dimension
how do you get OVD?
difference between dots on nose and chin
what is freeway space?
space in between teeth
what do you do if there are no teeth?
prescribe OVD using record block
how do you place record blocks?
cut notches to stick upper and lower record blocks together
place impression material in between
for registration place silicon/wax on top of notches
remove in 1 piece
-record blocks should stick together
