what do you do for upper free end saddles?
customise the saddle area of the tray using impression compound, do not capture teeth as part of the compound impression, remove excess compound and brush alginate adhesive onto the compound tray, use alginate to wash over the compound and fill the tray
what do you do once the impressions are taken?
decontaminate the impressions - place in perform for 10mins to disinfect
what should you be able to see when inspecting the impression
record the denture-bearing areas, facilitate design, primary cast should also be good enough to enable subsequent unambiguous articulation of the casts
summarise the steps of primary impression
select tray and modify peripheries with wax or compound, apply adhesive and use alginate, disinfect and then place in sealed bag with wet cotton wool, label bag and write instructions on laboratory prescription card
