Indications of PRR

  • High caries risk, deep fissure patterns, stagnating plaque with evidence of enamel demineralization

Procedure

A
  • Isolate tooth ideally with rubber dam but cotton wool roll and aspiration
  • Occlusal fissures explored with slow speed bur in air-turbine handpiece
  • Caries infected dentine removed
  • Fine diamond bur to remove grossly unsupported enamel and lightly bevel margins
  • 37% phosphoric acid etch gel 20secs (10secs eenamel then 10secs dentine)
  • Gel washed off and gently air dried with 3in1 syringe
  • DBA bond applied and light cure (470nm wavelength 20secs)
  • Resin Composite in enamel shade placed into cavity no larger than 2mm increments and adapted using burnisher or flat plastic
  • Light cured 20secs
  • Remove rubber dam
  • Occlusion checked with articulation paper and finished using polishing points and cups
