Pressurization Flashcards
Entrance to the baggage compartment is limited to:
No more than 5 minutes above 40,000
Restricted above 45,000 with single pack ops
If cabin pressurization is lost, the aircraft will enter the emergency descent mode (EDM) if:
Autopilot ON
Red CABIN PRESS LOW on CAS
Above 40,000’
In emergency descent mode “EDM” the airplane will level off at 15,000. If this is too low, how can it be changed?
Disengage the autopilot and reset the altitude preselect
On the ground, when does the FLIGHT / LANDING switch automatically change to FLIGHT?
At taxi speeds above 8 knots
On the ground with the FLIGHT / LANDING switch selected to FLIGHT, how will the cabin pressurize?
Cabin will descend to 500’ below field elevation
How do you select between the 2 cabin pressure controller channels?
They automatically swap every flight, or by selecting the AUTO/MANUAL switch to MANUAL, then back to AUTO
How many power sources are there to the outflow valve motor?
3 total: 2 AC (ESS AC & R MAIN AC) 1 DC (L ESS DC)
When will the “CABIN PRESS LOW” CAS message illuminate?
8000’ - field elevation < 7,500’
10,000’ - field elevation 7,500-9,500’
14,500’ - field elevation > 9,500
MANUAL mode - 10,000’
What is the power source of the AUTO/SEMI pressure selection switch?
Channel 1 - ESS AC bus
Channel 2 - RIGHT MAIN AC bus
When does the dual channel pressurization controller switch channels?
- Selecting then deselecting MANUAL
2. Cycling main door open and closed after landing
Is there a way to determine which channel of the pressurization controller is active?
By viewing the ECS/PRESS synoptic page - lower right corner, or SUMMARY page
Where does the pressurization obtain altitude information?
Captain’s side selected ADM (Air Data Module)
Where does the pressurization system obtain its landing field elevation?
FMS or pressurization selector panel
When does the FLIGHT / LANDING switch change to LANDING?
When a descent is commenced of greater than 1,000 fpm
What happens to the FLIGHT / LANDING mode if the aircraft levels off after descent begins?
Will maintain a normal pressure for that altitude. If 3 minutes has elapsed and the aircraft is still above 25,000 feet, it will switch back to FLIGHT mode
What is the maximum cabin altitude in AUTO operation?
8,000 feet
How do you control aircraft pressurization in the SEMI mode?
Preset the information in the CABIN PRESSURE SELECTOR PANEL located on the center console
How long does it take to open the Pressure Relief Valve after landing the AUTO/SEMI mode of operation
1 minute after the outflow valve has fully opened
How do we control aircraft pressurization in the Manual mode?
By manipulating the Manual Hold Rate knob that controls the DC motor to open and close the TROV
How do we know how much the aircraft is climbing or descending by using the MANUAL rate knob?
Observing the cabin pressure indicator panel
If you are planning a flight from a low altitude airport to a high altitude airport (La Paz), how will the cabin pressurization system function?
In AUTO, cabin will climb to 8,000 feet. When a descent is commenced, the cabin will climb to the Landing Field Elevation
What are the cabin differential pressure limits?
10.48 psi max diff
< 0.3 taxi takeoff & landing
Access to baggage limited to 5 minutes above 40,000
Access to baggage prohibited above 45,000 during single pack ops
When will the Pressure Relief Valve open?
If the TROV has failed, it will begin to open at 10.28 psid or -0.25 psid
During normal ops, it will open 1 minute after the TROV has fully opened after landing
How many power sources are there for the TROV?
3 total: 2 AC, 1 DC
