Pressure System Flashcards

1
Q

Low pressure or cyclone

A

Low or Cyclone: A region of low pressure shown by concentric isobars surrounding the centre, where the pressure is lowest.

  • Characterised by rising air
  • Always accompanied by cloud and precipitation

Q

High Pressure or Anti cyclone

A

Visible pollutants - smoke, dust, etc.

  • trapped beneath inversion causing poor visibility
  • Less cloud formation
  • Lighter winds due to a weaker PGF
