How do pressure groups obtain support?

A

Lobbying/talking to MPs, petitions, campaigns with adverts, marches/strikes etc

A

Group of people who campaign for reform of the law. Small group to millions, eg national trust

A

For particular groups of people, e.g BMA for doctors, law society of solicitors

Advantages of pressure groups

A

Raise awareness & remind parliament of issues. Keep parliament in touch with issues public want. Large memberships able to raise awareness. Must have sound knowledge to put point across convincingly

Disadvantages of pressure groups

A

Biased in favour of their interest. Very passionate which can lead to undesirable tactics. May only represent small minority.
