What are Interest groups?
Aim to look after the interests of a restricted section of society, eg teachers or lawyers
What are Cause groups?
Open memberships, seeking to gain mass support tend to benefit wider society
What are outsider groups?
Not closely associated with the government, concentrated on mobilising public opinion to place pressure on government
What are insider Groups?
Special relationship with the government and are compatible

Try to access key decision makers to argue directly

provides special info when government is considering new legislation gives them access to influence

target and influence specific member of the house of commons or lords / EU

Mass public campaign such as marches, place pressure on government
