Pressure Distributions Flashcards
What is the mathematical relationship between Cl and AoA?
Cl = 2 * pi * alpha
Which region of the camberline has the largest effect on lift?
The TE.
Draw the Cp vs x/c of a symmetrical centerline camber shape.
Draw the Cl vs AoA of neutral and cambered aerofoils.
Draw the Cp vs x/c of neutral and cambered aerofoils.
Draw the Cl vs AoA of thin and thick aerofoils.
Draw the Cd vs AoA of thin and thick symmetrical aerofoils.
Draw the Cp vs x/c of an aerofoil with no separation, LE separation and TE separation.
Draw the Cp vs x/c of aerofoils exhibiting early and late transition.
Draw the Cp vs x/c of a symmetric wing at an AoA.
Draw the Cp vs x/c of a symmetric wing at an AoA with a TE flap.
Draw the Cl vs AoA of a symmetric wing before and after adding a TE flap.
Draw the Cp vs x/c of a symmetric wing at an AoA with a TE flap which has a GF.
Draw the pressure vectors of an ideal and real cylinder.
Draw the Cp vs theta of an ideal and real cylinder.
Explain why flow separation causes a gain in pressure upstream.
Due to the separated flow the streamlines become flatter on top of the cylinder, thereby decreasing the flow turning and thus decreasing the change in pressure relative to freestream.
Draw the Cp vs x/L of a car with a semi-circular roof and a fastback roof where the uppermost and rearmost points are the same.
The semi-circular will recover more pressure before it separates. It is more similar to the cylinder case, whereas the fastback roof is not long enough to have the effect of an aerofoil and therefore will separate earlier.
Draw the Cp vs x/L of an underbody in…
freestream
