A

PReSCRIBER:

  • Patient details (minimum 3 identifiers)
  • Reaction (i.e. allergy plus the reaction)
  • Sign
  • Contraindications
  • Route
  • IV fluids required?
  • Blood clot prophylaxis
  • Emesis (is an antiemetic required?)
  • Relief, i.e. pain relief

What is the main contraindication to prescribing antiplatelets and anticoagulation?

A

These drugs should not be given to patients who are bleeding, suspected of bleeding or at risk of bleeding

  • Haemorrhagic stroke?
  • Ischaemic stroke?

  • Haemorrhagic: NO! This is a contraindication

- Ischaemic: yes, but you must wait 2 weeks (because of the risk of haemorrhagic transformation)
