What are wholesaling requirements for?
for anyone trading medicines, other than to a patient
What must anyone trading medicines other than to a patient do?
Hold a wholesaler license or (WDA)
Comply with the Good distribution practice (GDP) standards , and pass regular GDP inspections
Have a suitable experienced ‘Responsible Person’ named on the licence to ensure that medicines are procured, stored and distributed appropriately
What are WDA specfic to?
Human medicines (WDAH) or Veterinary medicines (WDAV)
who are exempt from having a wholesaler licence
Pharmacies supplying stock to another pharmacy within the same legal entity
Registered pharmacies and hospitals supplying small amounts to healthcare professionals for the treatment or onward supply to their patients or to other community pharmacies or hospitals to meet a patient’s needs if:
transaction occurs occasionally
quantity supplied is small
supply made not for profit
supply is not for further wholesale distribution
if a WDAH is needed, what does it mean for pharmacies that supply schd 2 and 3 drugs
A home office CD licence is needed
