Q
What are the clinical features of presbyacusis?
A
- Gradual, bilateral high-frequency symmetrical SNHL
- ‘Confusion in sound’ 🡪 struggle to discriminate speech in b/g noise
- +/- tinnitus

2
Q
What does PTA show for presbyacusis?

dip at higher frequencies w/o air bone gap, suggestive of SNHL
3
Q
what is the management of presbyacusis?
A
No cure, suggest early hearing aid to amplify sound and mask tinnitus (must counsel on price, maintenance of device etc) (refer audiology)
