Prerequisites & Descriptions Of PP Flashcards
Not squeezing child- child experiences water, not hold. Hands hold softly to just be in contact with the student.
Neutral Hold
You are just managing his experience. If you hold too tight, he will react to that by not wanting you to let go.
Signals partial loss of security to the student. Provides cue at end of inhalation that submersion is coming. Fingers straighten with only palms in contact at the student’s torso/rib area.
Semi Release
Hands completely off of child. Allows student to experience total independence upon placement and full release in the water.
Complete Release
Fingers fan one at a time OR all at once starting at the end of an exhale to allow time for an inhale. Student must have breath control. While holding student around upper torso, walk backwards to create speed for currents. Submerge student horizontally, then present HT. If floater, no hand target.
