Q

“one summer evening (led by her)”

A

The writer has used personification in this quote where it says “(led by her)”. The word “her” is a reference to nature and nature usually being seen as “the mother” of every living being. Another way of interpreting the quote is by saying that the speaker thinks he is equal to nature in the use of the pronoun “her” almost treating nature as nothing and being dismissive. The phrase “(led by her)” is in brackets which means the speaker is almost being dismissive of nature and its powers which plays a role later in the poem. “one summer evening” shows that the speaker even now to this day still remembers what had happened on that fateful day signifying to the reader that this was a huge event which left the speaker traumatised. The speaker also sets a romantic mood in the phrase “one summer evening”
