ROLES OF NURSE INFORMATICISTS SPECIALISTS

21
Q

was coined by KURT LEWIN, a gestalt social psychologist, the father of social
change theories. This is a change management theory that is time tested, easily applied and is
considered the embodiment of “change models”.
- This is a planned change guide with three (3) distinct and vital stages:
o Unfreezing stage
o Transition/ Change stage
o Refreezing Stage

A

LEWIN’S CHANGE THEORY

22
Q

a. involves an approach that makes it possible for people to let go of an old model/ style/
behavior/pattern that is considered unproductive already and people need to work on another
approach to improve a certain field.
b. It is a stage where the desire to change occurs or at least the need to change is recognized to elp
make improvement in the work or on the field better
Example: Paperless office, use of digital documentation, retrieval of laboratory, medical and
diagnostic results; NORMAL TO NEW NORMAL situation
c. UNFREEZING becomes successful when people / organizations involved maintain the CURRENT
BEHAVIOR (behavior that needs to be changed) are reduced because the group makes a way to
analyze the current situation of the behavior.
d. Once the issues are tackled thru a DIALOGUE, TEAM BUILDING OR BRAINSTORMING, change is
possible and is realized or made happen (change occurs)
e. The more the organization makes the problem known or transparent to everyone the better
because change now becomes possible and people accepts the change now- UNFREEZING
OCCURS!
CHANGE STAGE / MOVING T

A

UNFREEZING:

23
Q

The second stage is a process of change (thoughts, feelings and behavior). In this stage, people
involved have been CONVINCED thru persuasion and has been ASSURED that the change is
imperative and will improve the situation for the better
UNFREEZING TRANSITION/CHANGE REFREEZING
- With dialogue, brainstorming and analysis of the situation change becomes possible. New ideas,
processes and changes being in place, desired change is achieved. This takes time and is a long
process but can be managed.

A

CHANGE STAGE / MOVING TO A NEW LEVEL OR CHANGE

24
Q

3rd and Final Stage, change has been established and becomes the new normal or the SOP
( standard operating procedure)
- Refreezing has to be established so that the change becomes final and executory. Backsliding to
the previous process will no longer be possible.
- REWARDS, SUPPORT AND GOOD LEADERSHIP IS IMPORTANT TO MAKE THE CHANGE MORE
PROFOUND AND FINAL

A

REFREEZING STAGE

25
Q

The ______________________
describes the pattern and speed at
which new ideas, practices, or
products spread through a
population. The main players in the
theory are innovators, early
adopters, early majority, late
majority, and laggards.

A

ROGER’S DIFFUSION OF INNOVATION THEORY- (UNPLANNED CHANGE THEORY)

26
Q

There are four main interacting elements of the key concept: Diffusion of Innovations –

A
  1. An innovation
  2. Communicated through certain channels
    3.Over time
  3. Among members of a social system
27
Q

Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation Theory seeks to explain how new ideas or innovations are adopted
- This theory proposes that there are five attributes of an innovation that effect adoption:

A

(1) relative advantage,
(2) compatibility
(3) complexity
(4) trialability
(5) observability

28
Q

The ________________________ describes the pattern and speed at which new ideas,
practices, or products spread through a population. The main players in the theory are
innovators, early adopters, early majority, late majority, and laggards.

A

ROGER’S DIFFUSION OF INNOVATION THEORY

29
Q

According to Blum in 1986, computer functions can be categorized into three groups:

A
  • DATA IS PROCESSED
  • INFORMATION IS PROCESSED
  • KNOWLEDGE IS PROCESSED
30
Q
  • Use knowledge to establish and achieve goals
  • Analyze and synthesize derived information
  • Give meaning to obtained data
  • Obtain raw facts
A

Data-Information-Knowledge-Wisdom Continuum (DIKW)

31
Q

Blum identified three types of health care computing applications. He grouped applications
according to the objects that they processed: ______________,___________,________

A

data, information, or knowledge.
