She refused to give up her seat and she was arrested.

The federal court decided that segregation on Montgomery buses was against the constitution.

A
This was important as the bus company began to desegrated because they couldn’t afford to loose their business, as without black customers they were not making any money. Buses were officially desegregated in December in 1956.

However there remained the problem that individual states still had the power to make their own decisions on education and transport and it was still up to White men barely without any men not up to the supreme court.
