-Scout about Calpurnia when she knocks on Radley’s house to warn them of the rabid dog.
-Scout says that as a black woman, Cal’s place is at the back of the house regardless of her importance to the Finch family.
-Such a young girl saying this shows how deeply embedded racism and segregation is embedded into people’s minds.

-Ironically, the children stand on this balcony.

-Stephanie Crawford says this about Nathan Radley.
-Nathan assumes that a black man was the one who crept into his place while it was really Jem to get a close look at Boo.
-There is no evidence to support these claims yet the respectable people of Maycomb all jumped to the conclusion that a black man must have been the trespasser.
-Shows casual racism.
