What are a baby’s 4 major support structures?
Amnion. Chrorion. Placenta. Umbilical cord.
What is the amnion?
Fluid filled sac. Regulates temperature, provides cushion and gives the baby weightless movement. This sac breaks when womans water breaks
What is the chorion?
Surrounds the amnion. Develops villi. Becomes placenta lining.
What is the placenta ?
Connected to mother & babies blood supply. Villi prevents blood from mixing. Provides a barrier for nourishment from the mother for the baby. And waste from the baby to the mother.
Umbilical cord. What is the ?
Connects baby to placenta. Oxygen and nutrients go in. Waste goes out.
