predator prey relationship and succession Flashcards

1
Q

what is the predator prey relationship

A

as prey population increases their is more food for predators so predator population increases

as predator population increases more prey is eaten so prey pop begins to fall

this means their is less food for predators so their pop decreases

Q

describe the process of sucession from pioneer to climax community

A

abiotic conditions are hostile and harsh so no soil to retain water so only pionner community can survive e.g shrubs
then as pionner species die and decompose they provide nutrients in the soil and a new more complex species grows -bushes
this continues ubntil the soil is rich and deep enough for a climax community
